FAQ
About us:

Who are you?
We partner with an Amish owned manufacturing company that builds sheds and garages
along with chicken coops and dog kennels

May I come visit your location?
We would love to have you stop by and look at our sheds.
We have several buildings on our display lot. Our location is 1404 Timberline Road. Goodfield, IL 62742

Do I need to make an appointment?
No, you do not.  Our shed lot is open year round.
However, if you want to speak with one of our sales team members you will need to make an appointment.

Why should I buy from Hillside?
What sets us apart from the competitors is commitment.
We are committed to:

Quality- Hillside believes that quality is important for every project, not just a select few.

Integrity- We strive to make honest, ethical decisions no matter how big or small a decision.

Efficiency- From start to finish, Hillside is committed to getting your project completed in a timely manner.

Can I customize my building?
Yes, we can customize the layout, size, paint colors, siding colors along with many other options.

Prices:

Are you the cheapest price?
No, we are not and we don’t try to be. We aim to provide the most value for the dollar.
We have a price match guarantee that if you have another quote that matches our specs we will honor that price.

Can I finance my building?
Yes, you can. Subject to approval (click here to see if you qualify)

Is Rent to Own a good option?
That depends on your situation.
If you are looking to use RTO for financing, you do end up paying quite a bit more if you go the full month term, but
if you are already paying for a storage unit and the shed could replace the storage unit then RTO is a great option.

Order process:

How do I order?
You can go to our shed builder app, found on our website, build it and process the order from there.
Or we can discuss over the phone and process the order if the order is simple.
If complex, we will set a time that’s convenient for you and share our screen via computer or phone.
We can build it out together and discuss other options that may not be available on the shed builder.

Can I choose door and window location?
Yes, your building is built to order so you can customize layout, colors, and many other things.

How soon can I have my building?
Our lead times vary throughout the year.  On the regular, our shed lead times are between 3-4 weeks on livestock shelters,
4-6 weeks on sheds, and our build on site option is 8-10 weeks.
If you need it sooner than that,  we may have an in stock building or have a prime option to get your building quicker.

What happens if I need to cancel?
We hope you do not need to cancel, but in an unlikely event our stipulations are as follows:
Within 72 hours of ordering-  a full refund minus 3% if a credit card is used.
After 72 hours and up to start of build process - any deposit or payment will be refunded minus 10% of total building cost.
During or after completion of project- any deposit or payment will be refunded minus 15% of total building cost.
After delivery- 20% restocking fee plus delivery fee to and from.

Popular Options:

Can you do custom paint colors?
Yes. We use Sherwin Williams paint, so you can either mail in a chip and we can match that, or
you can provide us with any major company’s paint code and we can match it.
An extra fee applies.

Can you do custom vinyl and shingles?
Yes. If you want to match the siding and shingles on your house, you can provide us with the make and model (if still available) and
we can match it for an additional cost beyond our supply.
This will include any additional shipping fees to receive goods, as well as product costs.

Should I get a ramp?
A ramp is a popular option for those who are looking to drive their lawn mower or car into their building,
as well as a step to enter the building.

Should I get vents?
Vents are a great option if you will need extra ventilation when storing gas or gas powered tools,
or are looking to get additional air flow into your building to keep it cooler. Vents are highly recommended.

Permits:

Do I need a permit?
We recommend that you check with your local township, while we do not require a permit on our end,
some townships do require permits.

Can you take care of getting the permits?
Depending on where you are located we can take care of pulling permits for an additional fee.
Other areas where we don’t pull permits we can assist you with filling out the paperwork.

If I pull the permits do you provide drawings?
Yes, we can provide drawings. For garage drawings there is a $500 deposit required.
When the building is purchased the $500 goes towards the building cost.

Can you get engineered drawings?
Yes, if your town does not accept our standard in house drawings, we can work with outside engineering companies
to get engineered drawings.
The engineered drawings are an additional cost and are non refundable.

? Can you do 3D drawings?   Add link
Yes and no, depending on what you need.
Check out our 3D design center (link to shed builder), if thats enough, then yes.

Site prep:

Do you offer site prep?
Yes, we offer this service in some areas.  We recommend a stone or concrete foundation for your building.
We have a site prep crew that can put in stone or concrete foundations for an additional fee.

What do I need for site prep?
For sheds we recommend making a stone pad 6" minimum bigger than the building size on all sides.
We typically level the area, lay down weed barrier and then use 4’’ – 5’’ (3/4" CA6) crushed stone.
For larger buildings (not portable build onsite) with no floor, you want to put down a 4’’ concrete slab with footers.

Can you take care of site prep?
Yes. We can include that as part of the shed purchase and coordinate it with our site prep crew, if you are within our zone.
We ship farther than we prep sites, largely due to costs.
Contact us for more info.

Can I use concrete blocks?
Not ideal, but yes.  Blocks will need to be level with each other and use a minimum of 4” thick".
They will need to be placed 4’ OC down each runner.
For example, a 12’ wide shed will have 5 runners.
If the shed is 16’ long, you’ll need 5 (1 block starts at 0). 5 runners X 5 blocks per runner = 25 blocks.

Can you get rid of my old shed?
Yes. If you provide pictures and it is safe to haul it away, we can give you an estimate for us to remove it.
If the shed is in bad condition we have a crew that can come out and demo it onsite.

Delivery:

How far do you travel?
We are located in Central IL, but we work all over the state and surrounding areas.

How much room do I need to get my building in?
Typically you will need an opening 2’ – 3’ wider than the building.
Example, if you have a 14’ wide shed you should have a 16’ – 17’ wide opening.

I have a 3’ or 6’ wide gate, what should I do?
We can either build the building onsite for an additional cost, or
you can have the fence taken down prior to delivery and then reinstalled, which is usually a cheaper option than building onsite.

Do you take down fences?
Unfortunately we don’t take down fences, it is your responsibility to take down the fence prior to delivery.
If we arrive onsite and do not have access, there will be an additional charge.

When does my building get delivered?
Our deliveries happen from Monday- Friday and occasionally on Saturdays.
Our dispatcher will attempt to give you a 3-4 hour time frame of approximate arrival and then the delivery driver will call ½ hr before arrival.

Can I have Saturday delivery?
Depending where you are located, we may be able to accommodate your request for an additional fee.

Does the truck need to go into my yard?
Yes and no, depending on conditions.  Our delivery drivers have small forklifts on the truck called a “Mule” which is used when necessary.
2 sets of flotation wheels go on one side of the building and then the mule goes on the other side and can pull the shed right into place.

Will my yard be damaged?
The mule is very good at not causing yard damage, but you will have tire marks pressing down the grass and
if it is muddy you may have small tracks in your yard. If you are concerned, we do offer rubber mats that will eliminate majority of any
damage and can be used for an additional charge.

How long will the driver be at my house?
Normally we figure less than one hour for a shed delivery.
If it is a double wide garage, it may take the driver 1-2 hours.

Will you anchor the building?
We have anchor kits available for purchase at time of order, which our delivery crew will install at that time.  Only available when purchased along with the structure and installed at time of delivery.

Warranty:

What type of warranty do you offer?

We offer a lifetime craftsmanship.  30 year architectural shingle warranty,  5/50 year manufacturers warranty on smart panel siding, 40 year metal roof warranty and 10 year paint and/or urethane warranty.

Can I upgrade my warranty?

Yes, ask for details

Payments:

Can I pay with personal check?

Yes, you do not need a certified or cashier’s check.

How much of a deposit do you need?

We ask for 50% deposit when the order is placed, and then the remaining balance is due when it is delivered.
On larger garages we ask for 35% for deposit, 65% prior to shop construction.
